Although this funding represents a significant decrease from the initial $20 million program investment, it demonstrates legislators’ commitment to the IP Program and recognizes the positive impact IPs have had on businesses and workers throughout the Commonwealth.
On a related front, Senate Bill 1409, Senator Brubaker's IP legislation, successfully passed the Senate Labor & Industry Committee unanimously on June 30 and was placed on the Senate's voting calendar. The bill was Laid on the Table when the Senate adjourned for summer recess and can be considered for a vote when the legislature reconvenes in the fall. Since similar legislation has already been unanimously passed by the House of Representatives, passage of SB 1409 by the full Senate is the most critical step needed for the legislation to be signed into law before this legislative session ends.
